I am test driving an Android phone after Microsoft all but dropped Windows Phone support.

This is genuinely a big decision for me. I have been a Windows Phone user since 2011 when I got an HTC Trophy. Prior to that I had a Palm Centro and then a Palm Pixi, which to this day is still my favorite phone I’ve ever had. WebOS didn’t get the love it deserved. I did also have a Treo 700 with Windows but only for a short time. The Trophy with Windows Phone 7 was my first real experience with Windows Phone, which I will now abbreviate as WP for the rest of this piece.

I can blame, or thank, Palm for getting me into Windows Phones. I adored the Pixi for its form factor, despite its name. It was a small candy bar style phone that fit perfectly in my pocket. I had that phone for just over two years with no intention of getting rid of it any time soon. However the touch screen on it became unresponsive prompting me to have to do something. At the time I didn’t have the cash to outright buy a new one and the carrier I was with no longer offered it.

My SNES Classic Pre-Order has NOT been cancelled by Wal-Mart. [UPDATED]

UPDATE: They finally cancelled it. The original story is below.

It was Friday night, I was in bed watching LivePD when I got the text from Clifford. “Pre-Orders are Live!” with a link to Wal-Mart. I sprang into action, trying to pre-order from my phone. I was having issues so I got up and ran to my office to hop online using my desktop.

Success! I snagged one. It was glorious. I sent a tweet out to let others know they were live. I went back to the site to see if they were still up a few minutes later and Walmart had already taken it down. But my email hit that my order was successful. I rejoiced and slept well that night.

I have a problem with keeping empty technology boxes.

I have a serious problem with holding onto boxes. I fully admit it. Anytime I buy a new piece of hardware, a console or really anything game or technology related I save the box. I have no plans to sell the thing but I like having the original box “just in case”.

Also I have some irrational fear that if I throw the box away then whatever I have becomes less “special” and I don’t know why that bothers me. It shouldn’t. I rationalize saving the boxes for the consoles as it will help when I go to move someday and can now pack them up in a protective box made just for them. And truthfully that’s what started it.

NieR: Automata – A (late) Gamers Review

Let’s make this clear right off, I adore this game. I do. So if you want to just cut to the chase and move on, yes I recommend this game. If you want to know why, or just want to learn more about the game then let’s do this. Be warned, there is a lot to cover here so sit back, relax, grab a drink and read on.

I didn’t even think twice about this game when it came out. I thought “Who cares?!” the first one had mixed reviews at best, why on earth is there another one? It wasn’t even a blip on my radar except for really enjoying the videos that Outside Xbox/Extra were putting out about it. I laughed at the videos, thought maybe it looked ok, if a bit boring and life went on.
