Let’s Look At: Grand Theft Auto (series)

September 17th, 2003 is a day that many will regard as a great day in gaming. That is the day Grand Theft Auto V was released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. I could not have cared less. I tried, but it was impossible. The game was not on my radar or care meter. The reason is because in two months time the PlayStation 4 would be released and with it, surely a new-gen version of GTAV right? Well yes, but not until a year later and even longer for the PC release. But even then I didn’t pick it up, at least not yet. I was Grand Theft Auto’d out.

Eventually I did and rediscovered why this series is still successful. Much like war, GTA never changes. The same core gameplay you know and love is present in each and every game making any version easy to pick up and play. It’s the extra stuff they do that make each new version what it is. This is not a review of all the titles in the series or even an in-depth look. It’s just a written account of my history and thoughts of the series.

Let’s Look At: The Original Xbox

Stephen takes a look at the Original Xbox. This is his second time owning one even though the first time shouldn’t count. He talks about the system itself, his random game collection for it and the bittersweet experience that helped him grow his small collection in a single day.

Let’s Look At Transformers Devastation

Let’s take a quick look at Transformers Devastation! A game that is built on nostalgia and delivers a very fun and very satisfying third person action game.

Let’s Look At: NHL 16

NHL16 was recently released and as an avid hockey fan I picked up a copy. To be clear I had very high hopes for this game. NHL15 felt like a beta. You had to wait months and download massive updates to finally get the full game. The actual gameplay was great, so my hope is that NHL16 expands a bit on that and they finally add in the missing features the older games had that NHL15 was missing. So let’s take a look and see how it measures up.

Let’s Look at Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I planned on doing a Day One Review for this game but where would I even begin? There is so much to talk about. I have twelve hours into the game and still feel like I’m getting my first impressions down. However, I have plenty to talk about and wanted to share my thoughts on the game so far.

I stayed away from most of the media surrounding the game leading up to it. MGSV is a huge title with huge expectations. I played Ground Zeroes so I was familiar with the look and feel but had no idea what The Phantom Pain would be like as far as presentation and story. What I found was very familiar to me, and I have mixed feelings on it. Don’t get me wrong I am loving this game so far.

Let’s look at OneChanbara on PSP

So I imported a copy of OneChanbara for the PSP. When I reviewed ZII: Chaos I found out about this title and since Amazon had it available for cheap I picked up a copy and was surprised how fast it arrived from Japan. As a Japan only release you can imagine how little English there is in the game. However it still seems to be playable. So let’s take a look!

Let’s look at Half-Life for the Sega Dreamcast

Never actually released but nearly finished, Half-Life almost got a chance to shine on the Sega Dreamcast. It was cancelled mere weeks before it was supposed to release. Well thanks to the internet we can now look at what it would have been like back in 2001 had this game actually came out.
