Top Five Video Game Openings

There is nothing quite like firing up a new game and being treated to an amazing opening. In fact my favorite part of starting a new game is being pulled into its universe by a well crafted opening sequence. Many games try to do this well but only a few really knock it out of the park.

Here are my top opening sequences. Prepare to disagree! 🙂

I want to talk about Metal Gear Solid V

And it’s my website so I will. 🙂 I just finished the game which includes the true, or “secret” ending and I have thoughts. Be warned that there will be spoilers. Lots of them. Game changing ones if you haven’t played the whole game yet.

So if you haven’t finished the entire story yet then just move on unless you don’t care about it being spoiled.

Let’s Look At: NHL 16

NHL16 was recently released and as an avid hockey fan I picked up a copy. To be clear I had very high hopes for this game. NHL15 felt like a beta. You had to wait months and download massive updates to finally get the full game. The actual gameplay was great, so my hope is that NHL16 expands a bit on that and they finally add in the missing features the older games had that NHL15 was missing. So let’s take a look and see how it measures up.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 for Vita 1.02 Update!

Revelations 2 for Vita just got an update to fix the visuals. It was way too bright originally, now it looks much better.

My Fighter!

Post 100 “Celebration”: Thank You!

I thought I wanted to do something big for my 100th post on the site. But really I just want to thank the people who have been kind enough to follow this little website I’ve built. So to everyone that has taken the time to read what I write and click that little follow button…

Thank You!

And if you haven’t followed me then I appreciate you reading my stuff all the same, but would it hurt ya… 🙂

So here’s to the next 100 and hopefully many more hundred after that!

Top Five Average Games

I have played a lot of games in my time. From the lowest reviewed shovelware to the top tier blockbuster games and lots of games in between those. It’s that segment of games that I want to focus on. The games that were good enough not to be a throw away, but not quite reviewed as well as you may think.

So what do I mean by an average game? I am going to talk about the my favorite games that may not have been the most well received either critically or commercially. My base requirement is that it should have a Metacrtic score of 70 or less. If a game was reviewed well, but didn’t sell that great I will save those for another article. This one is all about lukewarm receptions for otherwise great games. This is just my opinion of course. So let’s jump in!

Metal Gear Solid V Boss Fight Guide – Quiet the Silent Sniper, S Rank

Here is guide showing an easy and very safe way to grab an S rank on this boss fight. It’s a little cheap but works.

Let’s Look at Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I planned on doing a Day One Review for this game but where would I even begin? There is so much to talk about. I have twelve hours into the game and still feel like I’m getting my first impressions down. However, I have plenty to talk about and wanted to share my thoughts on the game so far.

I stayed away from most of the media surrounding the game leading up to it. MGSV is a huge title with huge expectations. I played Ground Zeroes so I was familiar with the look and feel but had no idea what The Phantom Pain would be like as far as presentation and story. What I found was very familiar to me, and I have mixed feelings on it. Don’t get me wrong I am loving this game so far.

Top Five Dreamcast Games! – Throwback Thursday

I have always felt the Dreamcast was just a bit ahead of it’s time. It had a short life but still managed to make an impact that can still be felt today. Even if that impact is just the conversations that people have as they fondly remember the little white console. I still play mine from time to time and decided to talk about my favorite Dreamcast games. This is not really a top game list, or a best seller list. It’s simply the games I enjoy the most on this system.

Until Dawn – Day One Review

Admittedly I didn’t know much about Until Dawn before jumping into it. I knew it sounded interesting and I enjoy horror games so I had to have it day one. Here is my Day One Review which goes over my first impressions of this new game.

I fired up the game not knowing what to expect. I stayed away from previews on purpose. I knew a little about the game but not much. What I found was an interactive horror movie. Yes there is some gameplay but it’s more of a choose your own adventure, or choose your own death simulator.

Rage Win – Assassins Creed Unity

In a new segment, I present the first episode of something I am calling Rage Win. Inspired by Assassin’s Creed Unity as just playing the game and moving around is enough to induce rage with it’s horrible controls. But here at the Daily Goat Show we don’t quit, we just get mad and kick some ass.

Warning: Adult Language.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Vita Graphics Comparison

Tips N4G

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 just came out on the Vita. I bought it because I had not played it yet. With big name titles not coming to the Vita as often I wanted to throw my monetary support at it.

I immediately noticed that it was not up to par graphically as other titles on the system. It looks washed out, kind of like playing a PC game on it’s lowest settings. With that in mind I fired up Steam and bought it on PC to make this comparison video. There’s a difference…

I should point out that the screenshots look worse in the video. The game actually looks fine on the Vita’s small screen. Once I got used to the graphics I had no problems putting hours into it and having a fun time.

Freedom Wars

Tips N4G

I’ve never really gotten into Monster Hunter style games. I tried them once on the Wii and another time on the PSP. I just couldn’t get into them. However since starting Freedom Wars I have not been able to put it down.

Granted, it’s been said that Freedom Wars is not exactly a Monster Hunter clone, but is in the same vein as those games. I have no idea what the connection is since I can put all my Monster Hunter experience into a nice little ten minute box. Either way, this is turning out to be a good game.
