Yup I bought it on last gen’s system seeing as I have yet to take the leap to an Xbox One. This game was actually going to be the one to force my hand to pick up an XBOne but once they announced it was coming to PS4 next year, and being released on 360 at the same time as the XBOne version, I decided to just pick up the 360 copy and wait for next year to get the “better” version. The PS4 version will likely include DLC and other stuff I’m sure.

Fallout 4: Day One Review and Adventure
So it’s not Day One. However these are still my first impressions of the game. The reason it’s not day one is because I needed to take an extra day to fully get my thoughts in line. My Fallout 4 experience began months ago where, as soon as I could, I pre-ordered a copy from Gamestop. Paid in full as I always do. Monday, November 9th rolled around and I was very excited to go to the midnight launch and pick up my copy so I could jump right in. I had to work the next day so I wanted to get some time in prior to that so I could start working on this piece.
Resident Evil: Revelations 2
It dawned on me the other day that I have made quite a few videos on Revelations 2 but never an actual review. In fact if you do a search for “Resident Evil Revelations 2 on Vita” my stuff typically comes up. However I’ve never really talked about the game itself. So let’s fix that now. Here is my full review on Resident Evil Revelations 2. And in true Daily Goat fashion I will concentrate more on the experience than the technical side of things.
The game takes place over four episodes, each one split into two chapters. The first part of each episode has you playing as Claire Redfield and the second as Barry Burton. Longtime fans of the series will instantly know these two. While it’s not necessary to know the background on the characters to enjoy the game, having a history with the series will definitely help with some of the story, especially the rare jokes and one-liners the game sneaks in.

Let’s Look At: NHL 16
NHL16 was recently released and as an avid hockey fan I picked up a copy. To be clear I had very high hopes for this game. NHL15 felt like a beta. You had to wait months and download massive updates to finally get the full game. The actual gameplay was great, so my hope is that NHL16 expands a bit on that and they finally add in the missing features the older games had that NHL15 was missing. So let’s take a look and see how it measures up.

Revelations 2 for Vita just got an update to fix the visuals. It was way too bright originally, now it looks much better.
Let’s Look at Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
I planned on doing a Day One Review for this game but where would I even begin? There is so much to talk about. I have twelve hours into the game and still feel like I’m getting my first impressions down. However, I have plenty to talk about and wanted to share my thoughts on the game so far.
I stayed away from most of the media surrounding the game leading up to it. MGSV is a huge title with huge expectations. I played Ground Zeroes so I was familiar with the look and feel but had no idea what The Phantom Pain would be like as far as presentation and story. What I found was very familiar to me, and I have mixed feelings on it. Don’t get me wrong I am loving this game so far.
Until Dawn – Day One Review
Admittedly I didn’t know much about Until Dawn before jumping into it. I knew it sounded interesting and I enjoy horror games so I had to have it day one. Here is my Day One Review which goes over my first impressions of this new game.
I fired up the game not knowing what to expect. I stayed away from previews on purpose. I knew a little about the game but not much. What I found was an interactive horror movie. Yes there is some gameplay but it’s more of a choose your own adventure, or choose your own death simulator.
Freedom Wars
I’ve never really gotten into Monster Hunter style games. I tried them once on the Wii and another time on the PSP. I just couldn’t get into them. However since starting Freedom Wars I have not been able to put it down.
Granted, it’s been said that Freedom Wars is not exactly a Monster Hunter clone, but is in the same vein as those games. I have no idea what the connection is since I can put all my Monster Hunter experience into a nice little ten minute box. Either way, this is turning out to be a good game.
Assassins Creed III Liberation – Throwback Thursday
Late to the game on this one but I finally finished it. There are multiple options for playing this game, either the original release on the Vita or the HD release on PC, 360 or PS3. As should be no surprise, I opted for the Vita version so this review will be based on my experience with the handheld. From reading different sites, the console/PC experience doesn’t really differ aside from looking prettier and a few added missions. So this should cover all iterations of the game pretty well.
PlayStation Portable Buyers Guide
I love articles like this since they are always subjective to the person writing it and because of that I usually get to learn about games I haven’t tried yet. So now it’s my turn to give back and present my own advice on what games you need to get if you decide to buy a PlayStation Portable (PSP) and start collecting for it.
The first thing I want to talk about is the system itself. It was originally released in 2004. The system blew people away at first, never before had anyone seen a handheld with graphics as good as the PSP. It was like having a portable PS2. It also had an analog nub that worked similar to an analog stick which allowed more freedom of movement in games which really helped out with racing games. The library spans more than 700 games so you have plenty to choose from. The system even plays PSOne games downloaded from the PlayStation store.
Dante’s Inferno – Throwback Thursday
So here’s a game that was much better than people may let on, at least in my opinion. I was shopping for some cheap PSP games and came across a brand new, in the wrapper, copy of Dante’s inferno. I completely forgot this was released for the PSP. I bought the game on release for the PS3 and had a blast with it.
When I got home I tore into it, chuckled at how old the case inserts were that were advertising old games and turned on the PSP. I didn’t know what to expect, I remember reading reviews that basically said this version was garbage. So a garbage version of an underrated game. Great, what a treat. To my surprise it mimicked the console version very well. What was supposed to be a quick test just to see what it’s like turned into hours of playing. And that turned into me firing up the PS3 version for a bit as well.
Onechanbara Z2 Chaos
I’ve been trying to think of a clever way to start this review off without mentioning the obvious but I can’t. So let’s mention it, this game has boobs. Lots of boobs. And the game lets you know it frequently. Bikini clad Japanese women fighting zombies. This game knows what it is and plays to it a lot. It could not be geared more towards it’s target demographic. Luckily it plays just as well as it…uh…looks?
If you are familiar with the series you will know this not the first Onechanbara game to come about. Nope, it began life on the PS2 and has since had releases on the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PSP, cell phones and now the PS4. There was also a movie made based on the game series. So while you may not have heard about this game, it actually has a lineage that spans multiple consoles and mediums.
Batman: Arkham Origins – Blackgate
Yup, another Vita title. I’ve been playing a lot of Vita lately and have been having a blast. The latest title I’ve recently finished was Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate which is a companion to the console releases back in 2013. It plays as a 2.5D side scrolling version of the main games. In many ways it works very well, but there are also some major flaws with the title that should be talked about, but nothing that would warrant avoiding it.
It’s a decent handheld title that can be picked up and put down almost at will thanks to frequent automatic save points. I wish more games adopted that mechanic. I mainly finished the game by playing for an hour or more at a time but there were plenty of times I could pick up for only 10 minutes, advance the story a bit and pick it back up later without losing that progress.
Killzone: Mercenary
This was another of my first Vita purchases based on all the glowing reviews. Borderlands plays well on the system but I really wanted to try out a Triple-A shooter that was built specifically for the Vita. The game does a great job of showing what this handheld is capable of. This and Uncharted are the perfect “show off” games for the Vita.
Let’s dive into Killzone. First off it has its own story but unlike Shadowfall this still plays and feels like classic Killzone. You play as a mercenary that has been hired on to help support the ISA against the Helghast. You take on specialized missions and get paid to do so, which they remind you of a lot. Everything you do basically earns you money and the characters talk about getting paid a lot. There are pros and cons to this approach.
