PlayStation Vita Buyers Guide and Best Games
Thinking about buying a Vita but want to know more about it? Check this out! We got you covered. Here is an overview of the system, a few game recommendations, ones to avoid and my personal favorites.
Let’s Look At: Earth Defense Force 2 on PlayStation Vita
Stephen looks at Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders from Planet Space on the PlayStation Vita. We dive in to the first two missions and see what it’s all about.
Fun fact: This is a port of the PSP/PS2 version that wasn’t originally available in the States. But take a look at us now!
Let’s Look At: Saints Row: The Third
Saints Row: The Third or, as I will refer to it from here on out, SR3 is the third game in the Saints Row series so it’s appropriately named. It is also the first game in the series that I played. I do own the first two games and have put time into them but they didn’t capture me like SR3 did, but that’s probably because SR3 feels like a complete departure. While the first two games felt, to me at least, like self-aware GTA clones with a sense of humor about themselves, SR3 is just a wacky open world game that is best experienced than explained.
Let’s Look At: GUN
Stephen digs into GUN and talks about why it’s one of his favorite games of all time.
Lets Look At: The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel for PS Vita
Stephen plays they first 20 or so minutes of The Legend of Heroes – Trails of Cold Steel on PS Vita. Spoiler: He loves it.
Let’s Look At: Grand Theft Auto (series)

September 17th, 2003 is a day that many will regard as a great day in gaming. That is the day Grand Theft Auto V was released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. I could not have cared less. I tried, but it was impossible. The game was not on my radar or care meter. The reason is because in two months time the PlayStation 4 would be released and with it, surely a new-gen version of GTAV right? Well yes, but not until a year later and even longer for the PC release. But even then I didn’t pick it up, at least not yet. I was Grand Theft Auto’d out.
Eventually I did and rediscovered why this series is still successful. Much like war, GTA never changes. The same core gameplay you know and love is present in each and every game making any version easy to pick up and play. It’s the extra stuff they do that make each new version what it is. This is not a review of all the titles in the series or even an in-depth look. It’s just a written account of my history and thoughts of the series.
Let’s Look At: The Original Xbox
Stephen takes a look at the Original Xbox. This is his second time owning one even though the first time shouldn’t count. He talks about the system itself, his random game collection for it and the bittersweet experience that helped him grow his small collection in a single day.
Let’s Look At: Dragon Quest Heroes – The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below.
Surprisingly fun!
Top Five Scariest Games to Play on Halloween.
All Hallows Eve, or Halloween depending on where you celebrate, is fast approaching. That can only mean one thing. It’s time for a Top Five Scariest Games list! These five games did horror right and earned their spot on my list as my choices to make your Halloween as creepy as possible.
I’m sure this list could be highly debated and that’s the fun of it. So here we go!
Let’s Look At Transformers Devastation
Let’s take a quick look at Transformers Devastation! A game that is built on nostalgia and delivers a very fun and very satisfying third person action game.
Let’s Look At: ForestFish MS2-BT Sunglass Camera
I bought a pair of these for a project I’m doing. Let’s take a look at them!
Let’s Look At: NHL 16
NHL16 was recently released and as an avid hockey fan I picked up a copy. To be clear I had very high hopes for this game. NHL15 felt like a beta. You had to wait months and download massive updates to finally get the full game. The actual gameplay was great, so my hope is that NHL16 expands a bit on that and they finally add in the missing features the older games had that NHL15 was missing. So let’s take a look and see how it measures up.
Let’s Look at Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
I planned on doing a Day One Review for this game but where would I even begin? There is so much to talk about. I have twelve hours into the game and still feel like I’m getting my first impressions down. However, I have plenty to talk about and wanted to share my thoughts on the game so far.
I stayed away from most of the media surrounding the game leading up to it. MGSV is a huge title with huge expectations. I played Ground Zeroes so I was familiar with the look and feel but had no idea what The Phantom Pain would be like as far as presentation and story. What I found was very familiar to me, and I have mixed feelings on it. Don’t get me wrong I am loving this game so far.
Rage Win – Assassins Creed Unity
In a new segment, I present the first episode of something I am calling Rage Win. Inspired by Assassin’s Creed Unity as just playing the game and moving around is enough to induce rage with it’s horrible controls. But here at the Daily Goat Show we don’t quit, we just get mad and kick some ass.
Warning: Adult Language.
