SMTP: Killzone Shadow Fall

Killzone is a strong brand in the PlayStation universe. It was a huge system seller when Killzone 2 came out for the PS3. I was expecting the same excitement for Shadow Fall. It’s been argued that Shadow Fall is not really a sequel as it’s not a numbered entry in the series and I get that. However, there is an expectation for this brand, especially if it’s going to be a launch title. This title was one of their arguments for getting a PS4 over the XBone right?

Destined to be Alone: Day Three

The Venus Underground

The Venus Underground

Day three took me to Venus and I finally fought a different enemy! Woohoo!! Technically the moon had new enemies but let’s face it, the Hive are basically the Fallen in different clothes. I’m kidding, but it did feel like I fought more Fallen on the moon than Hive.

But the new guys are Vex and they are probably the creepiest enemies in the game so far. They don’t look creepy necessarily but they all just march, in great numbers, right for you. And shame on me for forgetting to screenshot them.

Destined to be Alone: Day Two

Me with the Traveler.

Me with the Traveler.

Day Two was more exciting. I made it to the moon! I also participated in a Strike mission. That turned out to be a lot harder than I thought it would be. Yes, that’s a multiplayer mission however since it’s a forced multiplayer mission and not really a story mission, I’m not going to count it against the playthrough.

I discovered that I enjoy doing the Patrol missions and that, if done right, you can level up fairly easily by stacking a few bounties that you can knock out all at once. I was able to complete bounties that required 100 Head Shots, Earning 9000xp without dying, 30 Melee kills without dying and complete six moon patrol missions all at the same time. Cashing those in almost got me enough experience to skip an entire level.

Destined to be Alone: Day One of Destiny.

Destiny_20140909114720

Just got to install it first….

Day one with Destiny was quite the learning experience. I played the Alpha which just tossed you into an area with no direction and since it was an alpha, I didn’t mind. I skipped the beta because I didn’t want to know any more about the game before playing it. So when I started it up at first I was all…

Once I got passed the intro level I stared wandering around the first section with little purpose or direction. I was level 2 and kept getting killed by level 6-8 enemies. Which I should have! I was just wondering why I wasn’t finding any enemies scaled to my level. It took me about half an hour to realize that I had just wandered too far out of the area I was supposed to be in.

NHL 15 “Beta” Released today!

So I picked up my full retail copy of NHL 15 and was extremely excited. In fact I popped it in before even taking Destiny out of the shrink wrap…and immediately noticed my favorite mode is missing. I can’t jump into a playoff mode? Really?

Moreover it’s missing online team play, some features of Be a Pro and the three star selection. EA will be patching this stuff in this month and a few other features next month. They say continuous updates will add more features over time.

Ok great, but that doesn’t have me playing for the Stanley Cup tonight does it? Release a full game EA, not what is essentially a beta as key features are missing.

Destined to be Alone!

With Destiny releasing tomorrow night, technically Tuesday, I am going to start a new section here. As I am a fan of single player experiences I am going to try and complete the game completely on my own. By that, I mean the main campaign, I read it could be done but will be very hard. I will update this with stories, screen shots and videos of my adventures, or failures, as it goes on.

Stay Tuned!

FYI, spoilers WILL be present, it’s just the nature of the beast.

The Last of Us Remastered – Glitches Part One

A few glitches I noticed while playing. I don’t remember a single glitch on my PS3 version, but the Remastered edition is pretty generous with it’s glitching. Still a damn good game though.

I labeled this part one and knowing my luck, it won’t glitch anymore making this the only part. But we shall see!

Note: Looks like I guessed right. I’ve put another 7 hours into it since making the above video and it has ran flawlessly. I guess it just needed to get it’s Lt. Dan legs.

NHL 15 PS4 Demo, Let’s do this!

Let’s take a look at the new NHL15 Demo that came out today (PS4).

…pretty sure I noticed the animations… Next time, we type a script first!

Microsoft: “Hey we want to play too!”

First, Phil Spencer defends the choice to make the new Tomb Raider game a timed exclusive. In his defense he says..

“I’m a big fan of Uncharted and I wish we had an action adventure game of that ilk. We’ve started some, and we’ve looked at them. But we don’t have one today of that quality. This is an opportunity.”

Basically stirring the pot of Sony fanboys, probably unintentionally. But it does appear as though Microsoft feels they need to somehow try and combat Uncharted 4’s release which is scheduled to come out on December 31st according to Amazon.com.

Additionally, Blizzard was told it was “Unacceptable” that the XBone version of Diablo 3 ran at 900p whereas the PS4 version ran at the full 1080p. Blizzard admitted they had trouble getting the game to run at 1080p on Microsoft’s platform but was apparently able to hit the mark after directly working with them and getting a “code update”, whatever that means.

Hopefully this isn’t the start of “me too” syndrome coming from the Seattle technology giant, but it’s fun to sit back and watch.

WIndows Phone 8.1 GDR1 Update Pros and Woes

I was finally able to upgrade my phone to the latest update for WP8.1 and I was underwhelmed. The big feature was the ability to add folders to the start menu…
