Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Final Boss beaten in under a minute.
Let’s Play Dark Souls 3 Co-Op: Bosses
Dark Souls 3 – First Impressions
Let’s take a quick look at Dark Souls 3. Not a full review, I still have many, many hours left to put into this game before I can offer an intelligent review of it.
Salt and Sanctuary Review.
It’s no surprise I like this game. I’ve posted many boss fights with more to come as well as talked about my adoration for this game on Monday Vlog #4. I finally finished the game and am ready to talk about it. I may mention Dark Souls many times, not unlike other reviews, so get ready for that.
So why do I like this game? Simply put it takes just about everything that the Souls franchise does right and accurately translates that into a 2D action, platformer RPG. Right from the outset you can tell this is going to be a game that requires precision, great hand to eye coordination and lots of patience.
Let’s Look At: Saints Row: The Third
Saints Row: The Third or, as I will refer to it from here on out, SR3 is the third game in the Saints Row series so it’s appropriately named. It is also the first game in the series that I played. I do own the first two games and have put time into them but they didn’t capture me like SR3 did, but that’s probably because SR3 feels like a complete departure. While the first two games felt, to me at least, like self-aware GTA clones with a sense of humor about themselves, SR3 is just a wacky open world game that is best experienced than explained.
Let’s Look At: GUN
Stephen digs into GUN and talks about why it’s one of his favorite games of all time.
Let’s Look At: Grand Theft Auto (series)

September 17th, 2003 is a day that many will regard as a great day in gaming. That is the day Grand Theft Auto V was released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. I could not have cared less. I tried, but it was impossible. The game was not on my radar or care meter. The reason is because in two months time the PlayStation 4 would be released and with it, surely a new-gen version of GTAV right? Well yes, but not until a year later and even longer for the PC release. But even then I didn’t pick it up, at least not yet. I was Grand Theft Auto’d out.
Eventually I did and rediscovered why this series is still successful. Much like war, GTA never changes. The same core gameplay you know and love is present in each and every game making any version easy to pick up and play. It’s the extra stuff they do that make each new version what it is. This is not a review of all the titles in the series or even an in-depth look. It’s just a written account of my history and thoughts of the series.
Fallout 4: Day One Review and Adventure
So it’s not Day One. However these are still my first impressions of the game. The reason it’s not day one is because I needed to take an extra day to fully get my thoughts in line. My Fallout 4 experience began months ago where, as soon as I could, I pre-ordered a copy from Gamestop. Paid in full as I always do. Monday, November 9th rolled around and I was very excited to go to the midnight launch and pick up my copy so I could jump right in. I had to work the next day so I wanted to get some time in prior to that so I could start working on this piece.
Resident Evil: Revelations 2
It dawned on me the other day that I have made quite a few videos on Revelations 2 but never an actual review. In fact if you do a search for “Resident Evil Revelations 2 on Vita” my stuff typically comes up. However I’ve never really talked about the game itself. So let’s fix that now. Here is my full review on Resident Evil Revelations 2. And in true Daily Goat fashion I will concentrate more on the experience than the technical side of things.
The game takes place over four episodes, each one split into two chapters. The first part of each episode has you playing as Claire Redfield and the second as Barry Burton. Longtime fans of the series will instantly know these two. While it’s not necessary to know the background on the characters to enjoy the game, having a history with the series will definitely help with some of the story, especially the rare jokes and one-liners the game sneaks in.
Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Vita Graphics Comparison
Resident Evil: Revelations 2 just came out on the Vita. I bought it because I had not played it yet. With big name titles not coming to the Vita as often I wanted to throw my monetary support at it.
I immediately noticed that it was not up to par graphically as other titles on the system. It looks washed out, kind of like playing a PC game on it’s lowest settings. With that in mind I fired up Steam and bought it on PC to make this comparison video. There’s a difference…
I should point out that the screenshots look worse in the video. The game actually looks fine on the Vita’s small screen. Once I got used to the graphics I had no problems putting hours into it and having a fun time.
Assassins Creed III Liberation – Throwback Thursday
Late to the game on this one but I finally finished it. There are multiple options for playing this game, either the original release on the Vita or the HD release on PC, 360 or PS3. As should be no surprise, I opted for the Vita version so this review will be based on my experience with the handheld. From reading different sites, the console/PC experience doesn’t really differ aside from looking prettier and a few added missions. So this should cover all iterations of the game pretty well.
STMP: F.E.A.R. 3
It’s time for another Sequel that Missed the Point!
F.E.A.R. The very mention of this game makes me happy. It’s so good. The first one still holds up very well today. Maybe the graphics are dated but the AI and gameplay is still as good or better than many modern shooters. F.E.A.R. 2 is still my all-time favorite FPS and the reason I got back into them.
F.E.A.R. 3 came out and I was first in line. Pre-ordered and all. I played it and thought it looked great. The new gameplay mechanics were decent and I liked the point system for earning upgrades. I was having fun with it. However I got to a point where I stopped and realized that Warner Brothers had just taken a piss all over Monolith’s brilliant series. This was not a F.E.A.R. game. While it had the right characters and the famous slow-mo mechanic it was just masquerading at best. Let me explain. Better yet let me strongly urge you to stop reading this and go play the first two games if you haven’t yet. You really should anyway.
Batman Arkham Knight First Day Impressions
The long wait is over. A game I pre-ordered a year ago has finally made it’s way into my PS4. I have put a solid few hours into it and it has definitely made an impression on me both good and bad. Here are my thoughts.
This game just screams Triple-A title. It oozes with polish in a way few titles do. There is no doubt a lot of work went into the game and the little details seem to all be taken care of. The opening scene sets the tone for a dark game and the first cinematic continues that theme. It feels like the opening to a new Batman movie. It’s done incredibly well.
Elder Scrolls Online for PS4. The First Week.
I didn’t even know this was coming out a week ago. It wasn’t until a co-worker asked me if I was getting it that I looked into it. Being a fan of Skyrim and seeing that the quests were actually very single player friendly for a MMO, I went out on my lunch break and bought it. I had just finished Witcher 2 and was eager to start Witcher 3 but decided not to wear myself out on that franchise and pop in the new elder scrolls.
Cue the 15GB mandatory update. I got home at 7:30pm and was finally playing it by 10. And by playing I mean staring at the log in screen. But not to worry I was assured I was first in line with one second left. So obviously I was going to get right in there…ten minutes later. Longest. Second. Ever.
